Leslie with friends Mia and Copper

Hello!

My name is Leslie Wells.  I live in the Powell area and am the owner of Agapé Pet Sitting. Agapé is defined as “a selfless love that is passionately committed to the well-being of the other.”

It is my belief that when we take on the responsibility of having pets, we are called to be good stewards of that blessing.  Caring for our pets to the best of our ability sometimes involves having trustworthy, loving people look after them while we are away.  As a pet owner, I know what it is like to have that need. Many times I have had the job of finding responsible, loving people to care for my own pets while away.

I have a dog and a cat who both were strays before they came to live with me.  My dog, Dusty, has been with me for 12 years and Maxx the cat has been here for 5 years.  Our precious Sammi, adopted from the Humane Society 13 years ago, was also a part of our family until  a pituitary tumor took her away from us.

My employment background over the years has included, among other things, being a teacher at a daycare facility and then promoted to role of assistant director.  Leading up to that I worked at a daycare called Agapé Daycare while in college working on my degree in business.  It was a very loving, nurturing environment for many children and made a strong impression upon me. Their philosophy became a big influence in my life.  Agapé love essentially means putting others’ welfare above yours.  It is a selfless, unconditional love that to me defines the kind of love that our pets give to us.  I know there are many people who feel the same way I do about being a pet parent which is why I got into professional pet-sitting.

I have had quite a bit experience with various animals including dogs and cats, of course.  Before getting into pet-sitting professionally, I cared for friends’ animals many times while they were traveling.  Their mini-farm consisted of goats, chickens, Saint Bernards and a Great Pyrenees as well. I have also cared for fish, turtles, birds, a mouse and even a pot-bellied pig and have also volunteered with a horse rescue organization.

Animals have always brought such great joy into my life and I know they do for other people too.  It will be a great honor and privilege for me to be able to care for your cherished pets.
